CES is a Hotbed of Advanced Design
About 20,000 new products will be announced at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that is kicking off in Las Vegas today. It is usually a hotbed of innovation and gadgets with special features and functions to delight our senses (sensorial design) and stimulate our thoughts and feelings (cognitive design).
The announcement for the Mind Flex Game caught my eye.
“The aim of the game is to concentrate hard enough to generate energy to power a fan, which in turn causes a ball to levitate and move through a series of hoops.”
In this design, the cognition of the user plays a central role as it literally drives the action in the game. Simple, perhaps even a bit of a gimmick but some say your view of the world and yourself changes a bit the first time you move something by thought alone.
